Who is the Methven Care Trust

Established in 2015, Methven Care Trust is here to continue a legacy of care for our elders in Methven. For over 50 years, Methven House has provided dignity and support to older residents, carrying forward the legacy that began after the closure of the Methven Cottage Hospital in 1968.

Methven Care Trust's mission is to create a modern, purpose-built facility, Methven Central is a retirement village and the new home for Methven House residents.

The Trust is committed to preserving the strong sense of community and compassionate care Methven House is known for, while ensuring these services remain available for generations to come.

A Place to Call Home Again

Methven Central, our new home will literally be at the heart of everything we do. A place that represents refuge. A place where age is celebrated, and people feel treasured and connected. A place to share food. A place for health services, advice and activities. And a place to call home for those who need a helping hand, while honouring the cherished memories of their previous home, Methven House on Morgan Street.

Designed for Life

Methven Central takes a different approach to ageing, in that we have our elders right at the heart of town, not shuttered away in a less visible street. It’s a place of pride, of vibrancy and homeliness.

Our team is working hard to ensure the new facility feels like home, using space, tone, and light to create a sense of wellbeing and security. This design philosophy reflects our desire to make our complex a welcoming and homely beacon of hope, closely connected to the heart of our small town.

Methven Care Trust is expanding Methven House options for aged care, increasing the places to call home in Methven from 14 to 26.
